Time Lapse

Bear with me on this one, these are my first few attempts at time lapse photography. Time lapse photography is basically taking many many photos of one subject whilst it moves, then putting them together to make a fancy video!
I've got a few ideas in mind of my next subject, these were just simple practises to see how to make the video and what does/doesn't work.
I know these videos are not the worlds greatest examples of time lapse but I'm putting them on so hopefully in a few weeks/months when I've had more practice at this it will be a good experience to look back on these and see how I've improved (also maybe have a laugh at these first attempts!)

Update:
On the last video of the clouds moving, I really want that to be faster. I made the video in imovie 09 and have looked at tutorials which explain how to speed up videos, but honestly my imovie does not have this option. If anyone could help me that would be super!

Fake (but still fun!) Tilt Shift

Tilt shift photography is the illusion of a photograph of an everyday scenario looking like a model. The last photo (the one above this) is a perfect example of this, the people, the trees, the buildings and the water look fake, like toy models. It's just a bit of a fun effect you can achieve with special tilt shift lenses, or if you're just wanting to try the technique out, see if you like it before buying a new lens then you can cheat!
So... I had a little cheat with these, I found a tutorial online - Tilt Shift Tutorial which goes through the basics of how to make your photographs look like they were taken with a tilt shift lens. I know it's naughty to use cheats rather than using a real lens to do this but I got excited and wanted to try it! I have seen quite a few sites which shows you how to make your own tilt shift lenses (involving toilet plungers would you believe!) so maybe that will be my next mini project, make my own lens. For now though I'll stick to the cheat!

Part 3 - Jody

Model - Jody Holliday

And last but not least, Jody!
Jody brought her own clothes and props to the shoot and after looking at them we knew exactly how we wanted this shoot to go! This was one of those days when everything goes your way, the hair, accessories, makeup, clothing and model all just came together perfectly.
The whole day was such a big success and so much fun!
Once again a massive thank you to Meg, Jody, Lauren and Hannah, we'll have to do it again some time!

Part 2 - Hannah

Model - Hannah Kai

This shoot was the first of 3 on that very busy day, me and Meg brainstormed ideas and (luckily) both had the same idea in mind. A grunge/rocker/glam/tramp feel! Not the most defined of ideas but we both knew what we wanted, and we got it! Hannah was a star, it was freezing and she was near enough in the city center at lunchtime being watched by passer-bys, yet she still did everything and more that we asked of her! I'm so pleased with how the day turned out. It's one of the best feelings when you have an idea in your head and it eventually turns to reality :)

Part 1 - Lauren

Model - Lauren Ward - Maverick Models

Earlier this week I had a very busy day and over the next few days I shall be blogging about it!
Today's is the lovely Lauren. I needed to get my portfolio looking healthier so me and Meg organised a day of shoots to boost our portfolios. The last shoot of the day was Lauren, we decided for 2 looks for her. The first being fresh faced and beautiful (which she did very well!) and the second being a unique twist and some thing unusual, hence the gold leaf! I got to use my new lighting (brilliant Christmas present from George) for the first time and ooh it was exciting! The whole day was such a big success and I couldn't be happier with the way the photos turned out. Thank you girls for helping me out, you were all amazing.
There's more to come so check again tomorrow :)
